Whiteman AFB Pharmacy Introduces Virtual Queuing for Enhanced Prescription Services
In an effort to improve patient convenience and streamline the prescription process, the 509th Medical Group Pharmacy at Whiteman Air Force Base is launching Q-Anywhere, a virtual queuing system set to go live on September 22, 2025. This innovative solution, initiated by the Defense Health Agency, aims to enhance the efficiency of obtaining prescriptions, both new and renewed.
Seamless Prescription Management
With Q-Anywhere, patients at Whiteman AFB can initiate their prescription services remotely, either by texting “GET IN LINE” to 877-200-6516 or by scanning a QR code generator. This virtual system minimizes the need to physically wait in the pharmacy, offering greater control over when and how prescriptions are processed. This advancement addresses previous challenges of unpredictable wait times by allowing patients to manage prescription initiation from anywhere.
How It Works
The process for activating new or renewal prescriptions is straightforward. Patients must text or scan the QR code during duty hours to start their prescription service. After initiating contact, a pharmacy technician assists through a chat interface, guiding patients through any necessary steps.
Once medications are ready, patients receive a text message notification, allowing them to join the pick-up line at their convenience. For refills, patients have the option to use the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal or call 660-900-2742. This multi-channel approach ensures accessibility and ease for all patients.
Prescription Turnaround Times
- Urgent prescriptions: Available the same day.
- Routine prescriptions: Ready within 24 business hours.
- Refills: Processed within up to 72 business hours.
Key Information for Patients
To ensure a smooth experience with the new system, patients should have their Department of Defense (DOD) ID number or provide their name and date of birth when initiating the service. The system is designed to handle requests for multiple family members efficiently. After completing one request, patients can start another for additional family members by simply clicking the home button.
In instances where the prescribed medication name is unknown, patients can input alternative information such as the date the medication was sent to the pharmacy, the prescribing provider’s name, or the purpose of the medication.
Additional Considerations
Medications not picked up within 10 calendar days will be returned to stock, necessitating a restart of the activation process. To aid in the transition, demonstrations are being held in the pharmacy lobby until October 6, 2025. For further details, patients can refer to the Whiteman TRICARE website or contact the pharmacy directly.
Pharmacy Location and Operating Hours
The Whiteman AFB Pharmacy is situated at 331 Sijan Avenue and operates from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays and Air Force Global Strike Command Family Days after noon. Patients are encouraged to take advantage of the new system to enhance their overall experience and convenience in managing prescriptions.
This new system marks a significant step forward in healthcare service delivery at Whiteman AFB, promising a more accessible and efficient experience for all patients.
