Enhancing Dairy Product Authenticity with QR Codes

In response to increasing concerns about food adulteration and counterfeit dairy products, Nandini, Karnataka’s leading dairy brand, is implementing a QR code generator to authenticate their products. This initiative aims to bolster consumer confidence and safeguard public welfare by ensuring the quality and legitimacy of dairy items.

Combatting Adulteration with Technology

The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), responsible for marketing Nandini products, is taking significant steps to combat the rising incidence of product adulteration and imitation brands in the dairy sector. By integrating technology into their operations, KMF is committed to transparency and maintaining high standards of quality assurance.

KMF's Managing Director, Shivaswamy, announced that all Nandini products will soon feature unique QR codes. These codes, when scanned with a smartphone, will provide consumers with detailed product information, enabling them to verify the authenticity of their purchases. Shivaswamy emphasized that strict legal measures will be implemented against any entities involved in counterfeiting or adulteration activities.

A Broad Reach and Diverse Offerings

Every day, KMF collects approximately one crore litres of milk. Of this, 65 lakh litres are transformed into milk, curd, and various dairy products, which are then distributed to consumers across Karnataka. Nandini products have also made their way to international markets such as Dubai and Singapore, showcasing the brand's expanding reach.

Additionally, as part of its product diversification strategy, the federation is developing sugar-free sweets tailored for diabetic customers. This move caters to the growing health-conscious segment of the market, further expanding Nandini's product portfolio.

Stable Pricing Amid Rising Costs

Animal Husbandry Minister K. Venkatesh has assured consumers that there will be no price increase for Nandini milk or its products, despite climbing production costs. This decision underscores the government’s commitment to keeping essential dairy products affordable for the public.

The past year saw remarkable sales figures, with 725 metric tonnes of Nandini sweets sold, setting a target of 1,000 metric tonnes for the current year. Impressively, the actual sales surpassed expectations, reaching 1,100 metric tonnes and generating ₹46 crore, marking the highest-ever turnover in KMF’s history.

A Trustworthy Brand

Nandini’s robust market performance is a testament to the brand's strong consumer trust. Minister Venkatesh reiterated the government's dedication to maintaining affordable prices while ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in dairy production.

As Nandini continues to innovate and expand, the introduction of QR codes promises to further enhance consumer confidence and protect the integrity of their products. With these efforts, Nandini aims to remain a trusted name in the dairy industry, reassuring consumers of the authenticity and quality of their purchases.
